Research

The RPA ICS aims to provide evidence-based interventions focused on improving the quality of care delivered to our patients. The RPA ICS actively participates in Australian and international research projects, including ANZICS CTG endorsed trials, the main Australian organisation driving Intensive Care Medicine research. 

The enrolment or data collection for any study in the ICS can only be initiated after obtaining appropriate ethics approval or a waiver from our hospital human research ethics committee. All studies conducted at our ICU follow Good Clinical Practice guidelines and comply with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.

We employ 2 ICU Research Coordinators who will discuss research trials with potential patients or their next of kin.
